Constant change and self-renewal has sustained the character of Copenhagen’s Tivoli gardens as a place of amusement, culture and recreation throughout history.
The Tivoli Edge project continues this legacy with a form that anticipates and accepts the overlays that accrue with time.
The building has a place in the public’s imagination, inviting involuntary dreaming in a city of material practicality.
A conceptual continuation of the city’s moat, it is an inhabited zone that engages and entertains, enfolds, rather than delimits.
Terracotta terraces weave together and step back on the building’s garden side, front row to the park’s activities.
The façade captures the nuances of the changing light, enriching the experience of passersby as it unfolds along the street.
It is both a portal framing the fanciful world of Tivoli, and a mirror amplifying the vivid world of Copenhagen.
